24V Waterproof LED Tape Light Install on Outdoor Wood Feature Wall

Sometimes the right lighting is all a space needs. This wood feature wall already had great bones - clean horizontal slat detailing, quality material, solid construction. But without the right lighting, it was just a wall. We installed 24V waterproof LED tape lighting recessed into the gaps between the slats, and the result is a layered, warm glow that makes the whole wall feel intentional.

The tape light itself is rated for outdoor use, which matters more than most people realize. Moisture, temperature swings, and UV exposure will destroy cheap indoor strip lights fast. Using a waterproof-rated product from the start means this install holds up long-term without flickering, yellowing, or failing.

The driver - a HitLights 5-in-1 dimmable LED driver - is mounted in a weatherproof enclosure flush with the wall. That's the brain of the system. It converts the line voltage down to 24V and gives the system its dimming capability. Housing it properly keeps it protected and makes future servicing straightforward.

We routed the LED tape vertically between slat sections, securing it with black retention clips that keep everything sitting flush and tight. Clean routing like this isn't just about looks - it prevents the tape from peeling, shifting, or creating hot spots over time. Every connection inside that driver box is made cleanly and labeled, so there's no guesswork if something ever needs to be serviced down the road.
